3 Ways to Stay Current on News Without Losing Your Mind

[ad_1]

If you are like me, logging onto Facebook or reading the news can be an emotional upheaval. Depending on what the news is, it can even become an anxiety trigger. At it’s worse; it can alter my energy and change the course of my day because of how it affects me.

I am happy to be a sensitive person who feels things deeply. I think this is a good experience of life and I would never change it. However, for those of you who are open and sensitive like me, you know how sometimes the truth of something can strike you at such a deep chord, there is no other appropriate response but grief and tears.

Staying abreast of current events is important. It is valuable to know what is going on in the world and to get involved and let your voice be heard on topics that are important to you. However, it is also imperative to keep your own wellbeing and health in the forefront of your attention.

Here are 3 things I do to help me stay grounded and vibrating at a high level (even while staying current on what is happening in our world.)

Set a timer

It is easy with social media and cell phones in our pockets to be constantly bombarded with news. We must decide on how much input is optimal for our health and wellbeing on a daily basis. Checking our phones every 30min is not going to change the world or what is happening in it – but it will change you.

For me, during the week, my maximum news/social media saturation is about 45 min. I usually check in with the world in the morning for around 30min, and then some days I check in again in the late afternoon for 10-15min.

I am also a firm believer in fasting. News and social media fasting, that is. It is important to go an entire day, or even an entire weekend without logging into social media or reading news on the computer. All of us have people and experiences in our lives that are more important than our screens (news and social media). I recommend looking at how you spend your time and making sure that the time you spend with each experience is in alignment with how important that experience or person is to you in your life. For example, if I am acting unconsciously, I can easily spend more time on Facebook than I do with my husband. Because my husband is vastly more important to me than Facebook, I find more joy, love, and connection when I live consciously and prioritize appropriately.

Each of us has a natural wisdom, and when we are constantly putting things in, we leave no time for that wisdom to come out. Furthermore, when we read things that create stress for us, our bodies are filled with the stress hormone cortisol.

Christopher Bergland says, “Scientists have known for years that elevated cortisol levels: interfere with learning and memory, lower immune function and bone density, increase weight gain, blood pressure, cholesterol, heart disease… The list goes on and on. Chronic stress and elevated cortisol levels also increase risk for depression, mental illness, and lower life expectancy.”

I witness daily how difficult it is for my clients to use their phone and computers with intention. I understand that for some (many) people self-control around how frequently they ‘log on’ is a challenge. However, when most people allow how it is affecting their health to really sink in, it becomes obvious that it has to monitored by your self-control.

Choose the time of day that you engage

Choosing the time of day that you engage in reading news and social media is really important. It is unwise to stress yourself out right before you go to work, have dinner with your family, climb into bed, or engage in a creative process. Knowing that you might see or read something that will create an emotional response in you, you have to choose the best time to expose yourself to that input.

I like to engage with news and social media in the morning before I exercise. Nothing helps me manage my stress better than exercise and nature. If I am emotionally triggered by news in my feed and then I go for a run outdoors, I can come back and begin my workday in a grounded and positive energy. If I read the news up to the time that I begin my work day, I will find it difficult to hold the space, think clearly, or be creative.

If I ‘log-on’ in the afternoon, I will try to buffer that by sitting on my porch appreciating nature for 5 min, or having a single-person dance party. This way I make sure that when I go into the last part of my day, which for me is dinner and time with my family, I can be fully present with them and experience the depth and width of my capacity for joy.

End on a positive note

I enjoy having a go-to list of websites, songs, videos, stories and poems that raise my vibration and leave me feeling upbeat, positive and hopeful about our world. It is easy to be saturated by the negative – but there is an equal (if not more) amount of positive. People are helping each other, they are showing kindness to each other, they are giving of themselves, and they are caring for animals and nature. Allow yourself to witness it and feel uplifted by it. Take care to gain perspective and see the entire picture so that your focus (thoughts and feelings) doesn’t become pinpointed on the negative in our world. Taking a few minutes to end on a positive note is like having an after dinner mint. It leaves your brain with a sweet and refreshed palate.

How Non-Contiguous News Influences Trading

[ad_1]

People have placed significant interest and attention to the seasonal and weekday fluctuations in forex prices. Traders are hoping that discovering patterns will lead to new methods to exploit up-trends and opportunities. Daily patterns may result in formulation of new ways to learn market dynamics, but transaction costs may limit returns. Correctly anticipating the performance of such tendencies when used as part of comprehensive plans is not achieved through magic, but a good amount of knowledge of calculus and statistics. The scarcity of computing power and software needed for certain calculations is another difficulty for most trading analysts. Fortunately it does not take a quantum physicist to extract practical market information from the patterns. With less complicated methods using basic spreadsheets, we figured out that currency pairs cloak exploitable price patterns of weekend effects, which are definitely worth getting into. Unlocking the cause of the relationship, by going deeper, will help to a great extent by supporting our current estimates of the next price change.

The discrepancies in trading days and information processing affects an investor's psychology and makes him bias to his trading decisions, therefore he could not expect and adapt to trends accordingly. What makes a news good is seen on how people react on it, like in weekdays when they feel compelled to work right away, and on weekends when they do not want to work at all. A supporting belief also suggests that because daily news is more active during weekdays, the daily forex rates perform better than on weekends.

Having none of it fully clarify the weekend effect, traders chalk it up as an economic anomaly, which can only be taken advantage of with the use of data mining and statistical methods. To calculate this, traders use an equation made up of the difference in daily forex prices and daily returns of each market.

The ten top courses are downloaded via standard report. More than a whole-year data of the market is necessary to fully study the weekend effect. An exhaustive study would require several years of data, but our intent here is to demonstrate the current state of the known weekend effect and not to prove or disprove this phenomenon.

A good way to study the motion is by allowing for a moving time window, so you could see the increase and decrease in persistence, something which would give you a clue about how the investor community is responding to various approaches. Those who could spot the reappearance of an opportunity a mile away definitely have a distinct trading advantage. The emphasis here is more on using data mining to unexpected emerging patterns in markets and to be able to exploit the phenomenon in its early stages as opposed to verifying information that the markets have already deducted.

On top of the day to day changes in closing prices, indicated as percentage changes, lays the ever-changing historical volatility of trading which has been proven last year. One thing worth pointing out after the long period examined is the return on all but the Hong Kong dollars against US dollar. The weekend effect is an extremely popular topic of discussion, and a lot of analysts have come up with countless different explanations for it. Taking advantage of opportunities presented by these tenders can be done effortlessly by the use of spreadsheet software and basic understanding of forex.

How I Trade Using the Financial Network News Services

[ad_1]

As a technical trader, I highly heavy on price charts for my stock selection and investment decisions. Even though technical analysis is my main trading tool, I do feel it is important to follow the financial network news services because they can provide us with information the charts simply will not show us.

One way I use the financial network news services in my trading is to alert myself to announcements that are scheduled to be released in the near future. Some of the announcements I will keep track of are economic reports, earnings reports, conferences and announcements made by the Fed. When I know such an event is scheduled, I usually cut back on my trading size because of the anticipated volatility which many times triggers my protective stops. I'd much more be on the sidelines wishing I was in the market than being in the market wishing I was out!

Another effective way of using the financial network news services is to see how a particular stock reacts to a report. For example, if the financial network news services reports that a stock's earnings are bad but we notice that the stock rallies (especially in a weak market) that is considered to be bullish. The fact that this stock was able to rally in the face of a bearish report tells us either the sellers have exhausted themselves or that the smart money is picking up the stock. This is important information that you'll only be aware of if you follow the financial network news services on a regular basis.

Contrary opinion can be a wonderful tool to use in your trading and by following the various financial network news services that are available to us, we can sometimes get a good feel as to what the majority of traders are doing. For example, if I am long a particular stock and all I hear from the financial network news services is that this stock looks like it can go a lot higher, I am more likely to speed up my liquidation criteria. The reason for this is because when a trade is crowded (everyone is positioned the same way) there is a good chance that the buyers may have exhausted them which means the stock may be vulnerable to a decline. It does not mean a decline will happen, but at the very least I am now alerted to the possibility of a sell off due to the extreme optimism that exists.

Breaking news is something that catches many traders by surprise and following the financial network news services a trader can at least understand the cause behind a sudden move in the market. By being aware of such news, a trader can decide if it's worth risking holding an existing position overnight or would they be better off liquidating before the close.

As you can see there are several benefits to following the financial network news services. Even though a technical analyst will argue that all the information on a stock is already factored into a stock's price, I think it would be wise to combine technical analysis with the news. This business of trading is hard enough and we should take advantage of every edge in the market that is available to us. By being aware of scheduled announcements that may dramatically affect a stock's behavior we can better position ourselves accordingly and protect our trading capital which after all should be every trader's ultimate goal.

One recurring news on the Commonwealth Games 2010 is about the slow work progress at all the Delhi Games ventures and infrastructure projects; news about corruption and mismatch of costs related to products hit the headlines for several days together.

The Commonwealth Games 2010 is the first time to be held in India and the second time ever was held in the whole of Asia, the first being hosted in the year 1998 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Mortgage Acclerators in the News

[ad_1]

A Las Vegas man was featured on NBC News 3 recently, where he explained how he was using mortgage acceleration software to rapidly pay down his mortgage. The 4 minute piece was shown on the "Saving You Money" segment and has generated quite a buzz.

The man was clearly excited about the way things are going with his customized software, and states that he will pay off his mortgage in a little over 5 years. He states that it is simple to use and when asked to explain how it works he said, "It is easier to do than it is to explain.

The software he is using is a new way of managing your money. You "merge" your typical checking account with a Home Equity Line Of Credit, or heloc as they are called in the banking world. This heloc then drives the proprietary software which instructions you as to when and how much money to apply to your first mortgage. Rapid paydown occurs at various times based on your specific financial rhythm.

Mortgages charge you compound interest based on the balance at month's end. You pay mostly interest and very little principal for many years at the beginning of the loan term, resulting in huge gains for the lender. So, if they are winning big by you paying more than double for your home, that means you are losing.

A heloc has an "open ended" interest structure which is very different than a mortgage. Helocs can only charge you interest on the average daily balance in the account. You can effect the average daily balance in a fundamental way by depositing your income into your heloc. You may be just beginning to understand how this new account can create financial leverage. As your income cancels interest in your heloc, it becomes possible to borrow money from the credit line and pay very little interest on it. When this money is applied to the principle on the mortgage, amazing things begin to happen.

The software knows exactly when and exactly how much money to apply to the debt. You do not have to adjust your budget or lifestyle either. You do not refinance or compromise your debt. You pay it off. It's not magic, it's math. It is math that most people do not have the time or talent to do. All you do is update the program with your deposits and expenses, and it does all the rest.

This guy in Las Vegas was quite happy about the prospect of being out of debt in about 5 years instead of twenty to thirty. Both the mortgage and the heloc will have zero balances. Who would not be happy with that?

At the end of the news segment, the reporter claimed that indeed the program was for real and that it DID work, and in fact three of them in the studio have been on the software since February and were very happy with the results.

The company that developed the software is trying to get authorization from NBC to place the news spot on their websites, but for the time being the spot can be shared by independent agents via email.

When contacted, a Branch Manager with the company said that thousands of Americans are now using the software and paying off their mortgages and other debts in to to 1/3 the time as compared to the traditional payoff methods. "It's been a Godsend for me, and I have had clients break down and cry when they see what we can do for them.

KVBC News 3 in Las Vegas is now working on a special report where they will go in depth to this rapidly growing area of mortgage accelerators. Stay tuned.

Tamil Cinema News

Vishnu Vishal and Suseenthiran jointly made their debut with ‘Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu’ and both are back once again with a super hit movie in their previous outing ‘Pandiya Naadu’ & ‘Mundasupatti’. Ever since the lively trailer started to make its round over the net, it has struck the right chord with the audience who love to watch the film on the big screen.

Story:

The plot is easily relatable and this could well be y(our) story. Cricket is more of a religion than a sport in our country, and Suseenthiran has sketched a wonderful tale in the background of easily approachable yet a dream filled with mirage for many. Jeeva’s dream is to become a cricketer, but his dad cannot afford to accomplish his ambition initially. Just like others, Jeeva falls in love with Jenny and what happens to his love and ambition has been explained really well in this crispy 127 minute tale.

Screenplay & Dialogues:

Suseenthiran has woven a no nonsense screenplay, and he plays with the imagination of the audience to the most part of the movie. As a viewer you get to see the story pans out as you expect it to be; but the way Suseenthiran has shown it on screen is a treat to watch! Be it the love episode of Vishnu & Sri Divya or the process of Vishnu’s transformation as a serious cricketer is pretty close to reality. As a writer, Suseenthiran slaps the Cricket Association of Tamilnadu with facts, and it does make sense. The way he questioned the monopoly and the favoritism towards a particular community is gutsy.

Casting:

Roping Vishnu Vishal to this script is perfect, and being a real life cricketer, Vishnu has given it all to look authentic on the screen. He emotes well, and delivers the dialogues perfectly. The heroine, Sri Divya is cute as a school goer, beautiful as a college student, and looks matured when her role wants her to be. T. Siva and Charlie are flawless in their given role, and Soori replicates his magic once again to induce few laughs without swaying away from the storyline.

Technical:

D. Imman has produced another winner and his songs do not act as a barrier to the film; especially ‘ovvondraai thirudugiraai’ song and the bgm materials of the same song will float in your lips for a long time. Madhie’s cinematogapahy is brilliant, and there is a particular scene where the lead pair about to call it a day was captured wonderfully! The scene takes place on a greenish blurry background and there are absolutely no lights on the actors and their emotions is left to the viewers to imagine is quite clever. Anthony L. Ruben’s editing is taut, and he shows his prowess with some unimaginable cuts in the second half where the cricket takes the center stage.

Verdict: Suseenthiran has garnished the love, passion, and cricket in the right proportion to serve a fulfilling experience!

Rating: 3.7/5

News Trader Success – The Correct Way of Trading the News

[ad_1]

I hear a lot of traders telling me that they are News Traders.  When I ask them what they mean they tell me that they wait for an economic announcement to come out and then they trade on the direction of the announcement.

I will use a hypothetical scenario in order to make my point clear.

Let’s say we have the Retail Sales release coming out of the U.K. in 2 minutes. The market’s expectation is for an increase of 5%. If the released number is higher than the expectation the Traditional News Trader will buy the GBP and if it is lower he/she will sell the GBP.   While this might work in some cases in many other cases it will not.

The reason is that a multitude of forces affect the price of a pair and Economic announcements are just one of the force but NOT the only force. Other variables include the prevailing trend and the general ‘mood’ of the market.

No wonder that so many News Traders get burnt.

Today I will tell you the correct way of trading the news. And I want you to read closely the following statement:

The correct way to trade according to the News Releases is to trade the reaction to the news and not the news itself.

Instead of buying the GBP if the UK retail sales come out better than expected, buy the GBP if you see that the GBP is rising on better figures. If the GBP is stalling on better news then you should sell instead.

A prime example was the EURUSD move on the 14th of September 2010. We had the ZEW economic sentiment coming out of the European Union. This came out worse than expected. Then we had Retail Sales out of the US coming out much better than expected. The combination of these two economic releases should have sent the EURUSD shooting down. But instead the EURUSD was stalling, trading within a 20 pips range. This was my signal for going long.

Guess what happened later. The EURUSD shot up by 200 pips in 3 hours.

So there you have it. I traded the reaction to the news and not the news itself.
